Kanehsatake midgets taste victory

On July 3rd the midgets played the rematch game against St.HUbert PAtriotes in St.Hubert. With our goalie Ryan McLeod movIng to Ontario we had to dress NAthan GAbriel in nets. The game started slow for us as the patriotes would score first at the 7minute mark of the first. The Warriors would respond in the last minute of the opening frame with a nice goal by JAnsen Nicholas. In the second the PAtriotes quickly got the lead back however our new player Thomas Howard Scott tied the game 30 seconds later. Patriots would grab one more goal before the end of the period to take a 3-2 lead. The third was the warriors period as Troy lauder scored two goals to take the lead and our other newbie Jordan periara finished it off with 4 minutes left for a 5-4 win.
On July 6th the warriors squared off against a new team from chataeguay. This team has only been in existence for two mOnths so we didn’t know what to expect. Well the midgets pretty much dominated the game from start to end getting an early 4-0 lead after the first with goals by Brandon bonspiel, Hank Cree, Jordan periara, and skyler baker. We decided to slow things Down so not to discourage the other team. We ended up finishIng the game 8-3 with a lot of holding back as the game could have been 20-0 if we wanted. The other scorers were Hank Cree, Jansen Nicholas, alex beaupre, and Thomas Howard Scott. Overall a good week for the midgets heading into the big tournament next week. Keep it going!!

Kanehsatake Warriors (Midgets) come up short

The Warriors played St. Hubert Patriotes Friday night June 17 in St.hubert. The Warriors added a new player for the game Justin Periera with hopes of a more solid d-core. The game started well with a power-play goal 25 seconds in by Brandon Rice, assisted by Skyler Baker, and Justin Periera. However St. Hubert got it back 20 secs later. During the first period Skyler Baker was invovled in a fight which ended in him and another player been tossed from the game. After the 1st period it was 1-1.

After an eventful 2nd period in which Brandon Bonspiel tied the game up at 2′s, St. Hubert got two quick goals in the last minute for a 4-2 lead. The third was much the same with both teams getting one goal each. Brandon Bonspiel scored again in the last minute. The game seemed to be called one sided with the Warriors recieving 8 penalties to St.Huberts 2 but hey were use to it LOL. Next game for the midgets will be a rematch against the same Patriotes.

This past Tuesday at the lacrosse box in the pines we had our practice in preparation for our first game Saturday. We started with stretching for 15 minutes and followed with my favorite pushups. We would do 4 or 5 and hold it for a minute than do 4or 5 more and hold it for another minute. The exercise helps strengthen the arms and the core. The exercise followed with leg raises, plank and scissors. Following that we started to do side to side sprints by two halfway than sprint the remainder of the way. After that we did lunges and ended our workout with some sprints. The kids took ten minutes and geared up and we practiced some passing drills and our system of coaching. We tried utilising some picks which Brayden and Shawn used( good job!).

Overall we have been pushing harder than ever to take our game to the next level for ourselves and most impotantly for our community. We realize we represent the community and we will be well prepared and most importantly improved in all areas of our game; conditioning, strength, and skill. Good luck boys on Saturday!
